Smokey's Story...
Smokey was found near the Kentucky border chasing cars after being abandoned. A nearby man told us he hadn’t been fed in the entire month he had been left on the property, and we even watched him pull burnt chicken bones from fire pits and eat the ashes just to survive. Without a second thought, we took Smokey home. He quickly found a family, but after they brought home a new puppy a week later, Smokey was returned to us because the puppy didn’t like him.

Smokey is currently staying at a local veterinary clinic and is struggling with the loneliness of being there. He is truly one of the most loving dogs we’ve ever met—a huge cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to be by your side, snuggling and soaking up affection. He is potty trained, healthy, fully vaccinated, great with children, and does well with other friendly dogs. He has been indifferent toward cats he’s seen at the clinic, though he has not had a formal introduction.

Smokey is not yet neutered, but we plan to have that done as soon as possible. He can be adopted before his neuter, though we would prefer that he return to our veterinarian for the procedure. After everything he’s been through, Smokey deserves a family who will never give up on him again. If you can give this sweet boy a loving foster home outside of the shelter or, better yet, his forever home, please applyÂ
